The house at 176 West Gore Street was built in 1878 for David Dawzy. The family moved into the house in June of that year.


David Joseph was born in Terrebonne, Quebec on August 3, 1827, to Father Guillaume Daze (January 22, 1799-November 1, 1847) and Mother Marie Josephine Taillon (June 17, 1802-November 3, 1847). Both his parents died 2 days apart from the epidemic typhus. The typhus epidemic of 1847, was an outbreak caused by a massive Irish emigration in 1847 during the Great Famine aboard crowded and disease ridden "coffin ships". In the 1851 Census, David Daze and his 5 brothers are listed living on a farm in Carlton County, Canada West (Ontario).


On September 26, 1854, he married Marie Josephine Dallaire born on March 18, 1937 in Ottawa, Ontario. Their first son, Joseph David, was born on January 28, 1856, in Ottawa and died on March 11, 1857. They arrived in Stratford before May 22, 1857, as their first daughter Marguerite Philomene was born here. She lived to be 83, dying on August 4, 1940, in Superior, Douglas, Winconsin, United States. Mary Eliazbeth was born on January 30, 1859-August 23, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona where she lived with her husband, Peter Barth, whom she married on September 28,1880 in Stratford. Joeph Norman, born on September 11, 1860, he married Mary Ellen Brazsir on August 29, 1881 in Stratford and moved to Vancouver where he died on October 8, 1943.


In the 1861 Census as well as the Veron city directories, David's surname is listed as "Dawzy". He lived in a one storey log home with his wife and his three children. The next son, Joseph David was born on May 10, 1862. He married Annie Theresa Kennedy on September 21, 1886, and had 12 children. David died in Los Angles, California on June 7, 1936.


Charles Guillaume, born February 16, 1865, died in Winslow Arizona on May 4, 1946. On August 23, 1865, Mary Josephine was born. She married William O'Brien on June 26, 1888, at St. Joseph Church. She died in Stratford on August 13, 1940. Their next daughter, Marie Genevieve born on March 28, 1868, died on Apri121, 187 lin infancy. Mary Amelia "Minnie" was born on September 28, 1869, and died in Berkley, California on April 6, 1958. Sadly, the next few children all died in infancy. Pierre Gus (December 10, 1870-November 24, 1871, Marie Rosamande (January16, 1872January 21,1872), Francis Joseph (June 13, 1873-July 25, 1873), Joseph Talisford (August 15, 1874-1881), Martha(December 14, 1875-1881), William Paul Guillaume (January 10, 1878-November 28, 1889.) John Alphonse (January 4,1880-November 10, 1882). Finally, Mary Antoinette the last of 17 children was born on June 13, 1883, and died in Waterflow, Mexico on June 16, 1975. The family had moved to Flagstaff, Arizona buy 1889, as that is where William died.


David Joseph Daze died on September 12, 1892, in Winslow, Navajo, Arizona when he was out hunting cattle. He was thrown and dragged by his horse, rendering him unconscious. He recovered, walked two miles in Callander, Arizona, got on the train and went home. The next day he succumbed to his injuries. His wife, Josephine died May 21, 1921, in Santa Maria, California.
